CCE Sullivan County will be offering a workshop called “How to Make a Woodland Terrarium” on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 10:00-12:00 at the Gerald J. Skoda Education Center at 64 Ferndale Loomis Rd, Liberty, NY. You can bring a woodland garden inside for the winter or give it as a holiday gift. Have you ever wondered what to do with left over plastic and glass jars? Yes, you could recycle them, but how about reusing them to make a terrarium. (Bring a container to fill or use one of ours.) Marion Dolan, floral designer from Butterfly Botanicals, will be the presenter at this workshop. She will be sharing many creative ideas for your terrarium garden. Each participant will take a beautiful terrarium home. The fee for the workshop is $40.00; which covers the instruction, materials and a chance to win a door prize. Pre-registration and payment are required before the class. Come, bring a friend and enjoy a unique workshop at Cornell Cooperative Extension Sullivan County. Garden Sand Casting Workshop!


Ferndale NY, - August 6th at 10am Cornell Cooperative Extension Sullivan County will be hosting their second “Art in the Garden Workshop” taught by Susan Dollard. Susan is a local artist and art teacher, whose art work has been exhibited in Sullivan and Orange County. She and her husband, Tim, own a studio and gallery called “Off the Beaten Path”, in Smallwood, NY.

The Sand Casting workshop is fun for all ages, and an especially great summer activity for children. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Learn how to embed or make imprints of your favorite found objects such as leaves, shells, pebbles, sticks, tiles or even broken pieces of glass and pottery. Be as imaginative as you’d like and create a unique piece of art for your home and garden.

This program is made possible with funds from the 2011 Decentralization Program, a re-grant program of the New York State Council on the Arts, administered by Delaware Valley Arts Alliance. It will be held at Cornell Cooperative Extension at 64 Ferndale Loomis Rd., Liberty, N.Y. on August 6th, 2011 at 10:00- 12:00.

Sand Casting Workshop August 6th! This Sounds Like FUN

Talk about a FUN workshop. On August 6th, 2011 from 10-12 Noon, a sand casting workshop is being held at the Cornell Cooperative Extension in Liberty, New York. Here is the small blurb on it from their June newsletter. I am sure that the number of spaces for this great craft class is going to be limited, so get your reservations in today!

This class is FUN FOR EVERY AGE, children and adults alike. Children must be accompanied by a parent. Learn how to make wall hangings for indoors or outdoors. Embed your favorite found objects such as shells, pebbles, sticks, tile or even broken pieces of glass and pottery. Be as imaginative as you'd like and create a unique piece of art for your home or garden. This class will be taught by Susan Dollard, local professional artist and educator.
